Welcome to boo & tron…

Vintage wares

Its been a while since I’ve written but I have still been out scouring for lovely Scandinavian and retro things. I have also recently left my full time working job to spend more time with my children which is a bold decision but the right one. With my heart truly in vintage Scandinavian and homewares, I am now only dealing in retro pieces that I find or have acquired. I’m trying to have a rejig of my website so look out for a new look!

Goodbye New, Hello Old… SALE50

Although I really love buying in new products and going to trade fairs to see whats new on the scene, it is time to hand in my buying badge and concentrate on second hand and vintage products only. Sadly, little companies like mine just cannot compete with the high street/online giants that buy thousands of products on a weekly basis, meaning that they can sell them for cheaper. I’m not sad or bitter as that is just the way of the World now. For this reason I am selling off all my stock (new products only, not Scandi Vintage) at HALF PRICE. Simply pop in the code SALE50 at the checkout and this will halve your basket. I’m secretly looking forward to focusing all my energy on looking for new vintage pieces, and of course more trips to Norway!

Yes its that time again and i’ve put a few pieces into the sale which I think you’ll like.  Keep checking back as there will be more to go in daily…

Its a very Warm (and wet) Welcome to Iittala

After nearly a year of looking at their pretty jewel-like votives, I will finally be stocking Iittala.  This Finnish brand is the epitomy of Scandinavian style and cool, mixed with its function and finesse.  With weather being a hot topic in lots of Scandinavian brands at the moment, I have picked their new colour called ‘Rain” which is a stunning muddy blue and have teamed this with a yellow for sun or lightening, you choose.  I prefer the lightening, rain and grey cloud theme (something we are now used to after ALOT of rain this year) as it seems so sultry and romantic and makes me a little melancholy. Anyway, I hope you like this little gems as much as me. The Scandi Vintage section ploughs on very successfully and there will be more of that coming soon too. So its a busy March, and then on to April showers where my new collection will be in its element.  Brollys at the ready people!

We welcome RICE of Denmark to boo & tron

I am so excited to finally spill the beans on a new brand that I have wanted to stock for a while, RICE of Denmark. They are a melamine range that are truly Scandinavian in the sense that they are bright and stylish yet functional and hard wearing. I am stocking the 9cm cups which are the medium size and are the ones I have had at home for over 5 years now and are still going strong. They are dishwasher and microwave safe and stand up to alot of use.   I am also stocking an exclusive range that have illustrations by Andrea Letterie which give a ‘vintage tea’ feel, perfect for summers in the garden or to brighten up dinnertime. There will be a few more RICE products soon, but for now I hope you like what we have. Brighten your life!Cups-on-shelf

Scandi Spring

Ok , so January was pretty miserable, and February isn’t shaping up too well either. But hej, at least the Scandimania series featuring Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is on our screen on a Sunday night. Last night was the Denmark one and of course we all want to live there now. Am smiling from ear to ear thinking of the Radisson SAS Arne Jacobson Hotel in Copenhagen that was featured. So this season I am bring a few new lovely peices in so keep them peeled to see them. We still have Skandinavisk Candles and their lovely candles including a Hygge candle – it means a certain atmosphere – I hope we can create a Hygge here at boo & tron HQ!

Happy New Year to all boo & tron followers.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Scandinavian homewares over the last 8 months. I hope all the purchases made have brightened your homes. That is   the aim of what we do and we are looking forward to 2014

All the Fun of the HOP FESTIVAL FAVERSHAM 2013

Thankyou to all who came along to Faversham Hop Festival, and browsed/bought some products from boo & tron.  Sadly I was set into a plaster cast in Hospital after breaking my leg, but my lovely friends and husband stood in and did a marvellous job. Lots of fun was had by all.  This was my first fair, and although I didn’t attend, I will be doing some more over the next few months so watch this space.  In the meantime please browse the shop by clicking on the green Stelton Jug above.  Ha det bra!

Scandinavian Patterns

With the end of the Summer now in sight, I’ve decided to bid farewell to those hot days and greet the new slightly chilly mornings with a focus on patterns.  There is a new blog about Finnish print and textile  guru, Marimekko in the News section (just click on the Dala horse above).  I’ve also put the the forefront of the shop, all things ladened with lovely Scandi style prints so you can fill your home with colour and shape for Autumn.

From classics such as Stelton, Sagaform and Garden Trading, to the unique, innovative and refreshing creations of black + blum, Jane Foster and Boon.

With years of family visits to Scandinavia, it has become a second home to me. Whilst there, I started to appreciate the Scandinavian lifestyle and way of living.
